About Ride In Colour
Ride In Colour is an independent publication launched in January 2026 by illustrator and cyclist Simon Morrison.
It’s a place for the things that sit at the intersection of making and riding: illustration, cycling, visual culture, ideas, observations and the occasional rabbit hole.
The publication grew out of a simple idea — that cycling is more interesting when you look beyond the numbers, and that making pictures is more interesting when you take them out into the world.
Ride In Colour is written, illustrated and published independently from Perth, Western Australia.
About the Illustrator Simon Morrison
I'm an illustrator who has spent a considerable amount of time making pictures, looking at things, and riding a bicycle.
My illustration work ranges across commercial and personal projects, with a particular interest in visual systems, colour, shape and the strange little details that make things interesting.
I've worked as a designer in Sydney, London and Perth, for a range of clients including Nike and Xbox.
Cycling has become an increasingly large part of my life, and Ride In Colour is where those two interests get to overlap.
Riding on Strava
Ride In Colour is a cycling publication, but it isn't a training diary.
Strava is useful for keeping track of the kilometres, routes, times and numbers. Like any cyclist, I'm interested in the numbers, but I'm also interested in the roads, the bike paths, the coffee shops, my cycling people and Western Australia's beautiful scenery.
There are a few runs in there too, and probably more than a few pictures of Mackie, my dog.
Some rides are worth recording. Some are worth writing about. Occasionally, they're both.
You can find me here on Strava.
